CLEVELAND — His patriotic shield is ready to shine in Cleveland once again.

Filming is expected to start this week on “Captain America: Winter Soldier.”

Throughout the weekend, crews closed several roads in preparation for production.

Now through May 25:

– Rockwell Avenue is closed between E. 9th Street and West Mall Drive. Suggested alternate route is Superior Avenue.

– E. 6th Street is closed between Superior Avenue and St. Clair. Suggested alternate route is E. 9th Street.

Many additional road closures are slated through June 28 (weather permitting). The biggest closure is the complete blockage of Cleveland’s West Shoreway, which will be blocked in each direction from Lake Avenue to E. 9th Street from May 30 through June 14.

It’s unclear if any of the film’s stars have arrived in town.

While Cleveland doubled as New York City in the “Avengers” when several scenes were shot here in 2011, reports suggest the city will stand in for Washington D.C. this time around.

“Captain America: Winter Soldier” — which is slated for nationwide release on April 4, 2014 — will pick up where “The Avengers” left off as Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world.

The movie stars Chris Evans reprising his role as the title character, Scarlett Johansson as the Black Widow, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Robert Redford as Agent Alexander Pierce and Gary Shandling as Senator Stern.

The film will be directed by two Cleveland natives — brothers Anthony and Joe Russo. Their credits include “Welcome to Collinwood,” “Arrested Development” and “Community.”
