Dead Rising 3 To Have Smartglass Only Missions

After an initial reveal at E3, Dead Rising 3 has been announced to feature smartglass only missions. Executive producer Josh Bridge explained that a phone or tablet equipped with the smartglass app will allow certain side missions to become available. The game will recognize that you have the smartglass feature activated and your character in game will interact with a phone, allowing you to play the mission.
“After you launch the [SmartGlass] app, it notices that Dead Rising is currently being played, press a button, and in kicks our phone. It actually skins your phone to be like the phone from the game’s universe.”
These are only side missions and will not be part of the main story. You will still be able to finish the game but completionists might find themselves itchin’ for the extra achievements. This goes hand in hand with the new technology advancements Microsoft has been touting so we should expect to see more of this in future games. No release date is available yet with only a window of holiday 2013.
